It’s life changing.

A cancer diagnosis and treatment is life-changing. Some changes, like the removal of a breast or the loss of hair, are not only physical, they also can be psychological and affect a person’s self-image.

No one fights alone.

Our Ellis Fischel wig program promotes a positive image for cancer patients experiencing hair loss from treatment. Hair loss, a very visible sign of the cancer battle, can make patients feel self-conscious or embarrassed about their appearance. Quality wigs are expensive—about $100 each. Some insurance does not cover them, and patients may not be able to afford them. Anxiety over hair loss and the accompanying financial burden should not detract from the strength patients need to recover. This program offers patients in need their choice of a wig at no cost.

How can I help?

Your gift, which can serve as a tribute to a loved one’s battle with cancer, will help provide patients with a complimentary wig. Patients choose the color and the style in a private, nurturing environment. Many cancer patients say that treatment has a negative influence on their emotional well-being as well as a negative effect on their appearance. Women fighting cancer say that their appearance changes during treatment, so with your gift, you are helping to build the confidence of patients during this difficult time in their lives. Your support of this program will make a difference in the lives of women fighting cancer.
